Chroboly

Chroboly ( German Chrobold ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers south-east of Prachatice and belongs to Okres Prachatice.

Geography

Chroboly is located southeast of the Libín ( 1095 m) in the Bohemian Forest. In the West, the Rohanovský vrch (1010 m) rises. The village is situated on a creek pass in the headwaters of Živný and Chrobolský creek. On the western edge leading to the Libín route of the railway between Volary and Prachatice, at the Chroboly has a train station runs.

Neighboring towns are Jelemek and Frantoly in the north, Klenovice, Mičovice and Jáma in the northeast, Príslop in the east, Záhoří and Ktiš the southeast, Miletínky and Ovesné in the south, Koryto the southwest, Podlesí, Skříněřov and Sviňovice in the west and Lučenice and Leptac in the northwest.

History

Chroboly was founded at the beginning of the 14th century by the monastery Sancta Corona in the forest Strobole. Was first documented the village in 1317. After the destruction of the monastery in 1420 Chroboly fell to the Rosenbergs and the rule Krumlov is connected.

On May 31, 1808 great fire destroyed 14 villages. The rectory, school and church could be saved before the encroachment of the flames. 1946 took place the expulsion of the German Bohemian residents Chrobolys.

The municipality consists of the villages Chroboly Chroboly ( Chrobold ) Leptac ( Rohn ), Lučenice ( Luzerier ) Ovesné ( Harberles ) Príslop ( Proslop ) Rohanov ( Tonnetschlag ) and Záhoří ( Zaborsch ) and the local situation Podlesí. In the corridors of the municipality are the abandoned places Lažíšťko (percussion ) and Plánská ( Planskus ).

Personalities

The dialect poet Josef Dichtl (1910-1986) worked as a pastor in Chrobold.
