Chuquihuta Municipality

The municipality Chuquihuta (full name: Chuquihuta ayllu Jucumani ) is a district in the Potosí Department in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

The municipality Chuquihuta is one of four (up to June 2009: three) Municipalities in the province of Rafael Bustillo and bordered to the northwest and west by the municipality of Uncía, to the south by the department of Oruro, in the southeast of the province Chayanta, and on the east by the Municipio Chayanta.

The central location of the municipality is the village Chuquihuta with 531 inhabitants ( 2001 census ) in the northwestern part of the county.

Geography

The municipality Chuquihuta at the transition of the highlands of Oruro in the mountain of Potosí. The municipality is bounded on the north and west by high mountain ranges of the Cordillera Central. The vegetation is that of the Puna, the climate is a typical diurnal climate in which the daily temperature fluctuations are larger than the monthly fluctuations.
