Cicia

Cicia [ ðiði.a ], also Thithia, [Note 1] is an island of volcanic origin in the Lau archipelago in the Pacific Ocean. Politically, it is part of the Eastern Division of the island nation Fiji.

Geography

Cicia belongs to the northern group of the Lau archipelago and is located around 120 km south-east of Taveuni, the third largest island of Fiji, in the Korosee. Neighboring islands are located Mago, 30 km north-east, Nayau, 30 km south-east, as well as Tuvuca, 45 km east of Cicia. The island has an almost circular shape with a diameter of about 6.5 km and a striking bay in the south. Cicia has an area of 34 km ² and reaches a height of 165 meters above the sea. The island has five major settlements, Tarakau the northwest, Lomaji in the northeast, Tokalau in the east, in the southeast and Naceva Mabula in the south of the island. Located on the west coast of the island airfield ( IATA code: ICI, ICAO code: NFCI ) with an unpaved runway. The island is surrounded by a continuous coral reef, just before Tarakau is possible to land by boat. Four kilometers southwest of Cicia is the ring-shaped atoll -like reef Thakau Nawa with about a kilometer in diameter.
