Cindy Williams

Cindy Williams ( born August 22, 1947 in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California as Cynthia Jane Williams) is an American film actress.

Life

Williams began her career in commercials and television series, but soon played leading roles in major films, as in George Lucas ' American Graffiti (1973) and Francis Ford Coppola's Dialogue (1974). She auditioned for Lucas ' next project, Star Wars, however, had the role of Princess Leia Carrie Fisher left.

From 1976 to 1982 she played the title role in the sitcom Laverne & Shirley Shirley. For this role she was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1978.

In 2004 she was a star on the Walk of Fame, Television category, honored.

Williams was married to the actor, musician and producer Bill Hudson from 1982 to 2000 and has two children with him.
