City of Kwinana

The place is located in Kwinana, Western Australia, 37 kilometers south of the capital, Perth. He has about 20.000 inhabitants.

Once upon a time was a district of Rockingham Kwinana, but grew so fast that it got its independence. It is only a matter of time before the place may be called city Kwinana. In Kwinana, the large-scale industry has settled, because the sea (Indian Ocean ) is ideal for ship loading. In addition to the aluminum plant of Alcoa, there are numerous chemical plants, oil depots and other large works.

A few years ago, Kwinana ( an Aboriginal name) more or less unknown outside the industry, but has increased by motorway construction Perth - Mandurah strongly to population. The Perth - Mandurah railway line was put into operation on 24 December 2007, and shortened the journey time to 25 minutes.

Kwinana - or rather, the center Wellard - has created a completely unique concept colonization. The railway station and a shopping center are located within the development area and the single-family homes around round, so that almost anyone can get there on foot. At the end of Wellard the company EmuSan (TM ) Natural Products Australia is located. From here, emu and Sandalwoodöle and their cosmetics products are shipped all over the world.

In the eastern part of Wellard, there are so-called "hobby farms". In general, there are five - acres - large plots of land ( 1 acre = 4,000 m²) The land owners have to part one or two horses, the others use the farm just to enjoy the peace and nature. In the next five years, this eastern part will be the " oasis ", because until then the area of "residential blocks" ( about 400 m²) is surrounded.

In the last three to five years, a new trend, the "Baby Bommer " (people who have reached retirement age and no longer want from the big city to sell their property and move to the countryside ) developed. Today this trend has assumed an unusually high level, so that even have become very nearly the only relatively few "hobby farms".

Since November 2006 there is the first Australian desalination plant for the large consumption which is powered by electricity from wind turbines. It produces up to 130 million liters ( 45 million per m³). Thus, it covers about 17 % of the water requirement of the city of Perth.
