Claire Alexander
Arthur Claire Alexander ( born June 16, 1945 in Collingwood, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach, who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League.
Career
Claire Alexander began his career as a hockey player with the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey Association, for which he was active in the 1965/66 season. He spent the following season in the Eastern Hockey League at the Knoxville Knights and the Johnstown Jets. After two years in the OHA at the Collingwood Kings and the Orillia Terriers, played the Canadians towards the end of the 1982/83 season for the first time in the Central Hockey League for the Tulsa Oilers after he received a sample contract for five games. For this, he 'll give his job as a milkman, but this was nicknamed "The Milkman ".
Following this, Alexander was taken by the Toronto Maple Leafs under contract and first played in the 1973/74 season for the at that time the farm team of the CHL, the Oklahoma City Blazers. In his second season in Oklahoma, he was appointed to the cadre of the Maple Leafs and played for the first time in his career in the National Hockey League. For the season 1977/78 he returned first in the CHL Tulsa Oilers to before he signed a contract in January 1978 as a free agent by the Vancouver Canucks.
After a season with the Edmonton Oilers, the then played in the World Hockey Association and the Dallas Blackhawks of the CHL (1978 /79), Alexander ended his career in Europe, where he spent two years working for the VfL Bad Nauheim in the Hockey League and one year for the Zürcher SC in the National League B played.
1984 brought him the Maple leafs as a coach of their AHL farm team - the St. Catharines Saints - back to their organization. On November 4, 1985, he took over at the request of head coach Dan Maloney, the position of assistant coach with the Maple Leafs by John Brophy, who for the team in St. Catharines took over.
