Clearwater is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is located in Stearns and Wright County and has 858 inhabitants.
Geography
Clearwater is located in the northwest of the metropolitan Minneapolis -Saint Paul. The majority of the city is located in Wright County, only an uninhabited area of 0.18 square kilometers, is part of Stearns County. To the east of the town of Mississippi, flows into the north of Clearwater Clearwater River runs. According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of the city is 3.3 square kilometers, of which 0.3 square miles of water.
History
Clearwater was built in the 1850s by the settlement of migrants from New England and Canada. The population grew rapidly and in 1856 at a sawmill and two flour mills was at the Clearwater River into operation. In the same year the post office was opened. The city was named after the river and lake.
In 1897 a flood caused by heavy rains break the dam on the Clearwater River and a railroad bridge to collapse.

According to the 2000 census living in Clearwater 858 people in 327 households and 223 families. The racial sits down the population of 97.8 percent white population, and smaller minorities together. 0.8 percent of the population regard themselves as Hispanics.
In 37.0 % of the 327 households living children under the age of 18, 53.5 % live in married couples, 11.0 % live in single women and 31.5 % are non family households. 24.4 % of all households were made up of individuals and 8.3% had someone living alone over 65 years. The average household size is 2.62 persons, the families of 3.15.

The median income for a household is $ 41,696, a family of $ 46,771. The per capita income is $ 17,325. Approximately 9.3 % of the population and 6.6% of families are below the poverty line.
Traffic
Clearwater has a junction to Interstate 94, which allows a direct connection to the Twin Cities and in the direction of St. Cloud.
Previously there was a connection to a cable ferry from Clearwater to the opposite side of the Mississippi. It was established in 1856 and has long been in operation. Today, a bridge of the Minnesota State Route 24 crosses the river.
