Codex Athous Dionysiou

The Codex Athous Laurensis ( Gregory -Aland no 045 or Ω, ε von Soden 61 ) is a Greek manuscript of the New Testament. It has been dated to the 9th century by paleography. The handwriting is not completely preserved, but contains the four Gospels.

Description

The handwriting is almost out of the four Gospels on 259 parchment leaves thick with a gap (Luke 1.15-28 ). It has a size of 22 × 16 cm. The text is in two columns, each with 19-22 rows and 13-15 characters per line. The Code also contains accents, spiritus asper, lenis and images. The letters are large, ink is brown, the letter at the beginning of paragraphs are red.

The Code contains lists of κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, Ammonianische sections (Mark 234) Eusebischer canon formation, Synaxarion, Menologion, signatures, and στιχοι.

The Greek text of Codex represents the Byzantine text-type. It is assigned to the category V. He is one of the best manuscripts of the Byzantine texts and belonged to Group E along with the Codex and Codex Basilensis Nanianus.

According to Hermann von Soden, it is one of the three oldest manuscripts that represent the Byzantine text-type.

History

The Code was compiled by Mary W. Winslow and revised by Kirsopp Lake and Silvia New.

The Codex is in the Dionysiou monastery (10 ) 55 kept on Athos.
