Codex Basilensis A. N. III. 12

The Codex Basilensis ( Gregory -Aland no Ee or 07, Soden ε of 55 ) is a Greek manuscript of the four Gospels, which is dated to the 8th century. It consists of the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John ) on 318 parchment leaves one column described. The manuscript is not complete.

Description

The Codex missing parts of the Gospel according to Luke ( 1.69 to 2.4; 3.4 to 15; 12.58 to 13.12; 15.8 to 20; 24.47 - fin). The format is 23 x 16.5 cm, the text is in a column with 21 rows. The uppercase letters are about as large as those in the Codex Bezae. Accents and alcohol asper and lenis are available. It contains lists of κεφαλαια (content), κεφαλαια ( chapters), Ammonianische sections and the Eusebischer canon.

The Codex Basilensis represents the Byzantine text and the category V is assigned. He is one of the best manuscripts of the Byzantine texts and belonged to Group E along with the Codex and Codex Nanianus Athous Dionysius.

History

Cardinal John of Ragusa brought this manuscript to Basel and presented it to the Dominican monastery. In 1559 it became part of the University Library.

The Codex is, as its name suggests, in the University Library of Basel (AN III 12 ) was preserved.
