Colquencha Municipality

The municipality Colquencha is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Colquencha is one of seven Municipalities of the province of flavor and is located in the northwestern part of the province. It is bordered to the west and south by the province Pacajes, on the southeast by the municipality of Ayo Ayo, on the east by the municipality of Calamarca, and to the north by the municipality of collana.

The municipality has 29 localities ( Localidades ), the central location of the municipality is Colquencha with 2,352 inhabitants in the northern part of the municipality. Other major towns in the municipality are Machacamarca with 1,400 inhabitants and Marquirivi with 996 inhabitants ( 2001).

Geography

The municipality Colquencha located on the Bolivian Altiplano at an average altitude of 3900 m, between the Andes mountain ranges, the Cordillera Occidental and the Cordillera Central in the west to the east. The region has a pronounced diurnal climate where the temperature variations during the day be more pronounced as the year progresses. The mean average temperature of the municipality is 10 ° C (see climate chart ), the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 7 ° C in June / July and about 12 ° C in November. The annual precipitation is about 500 mm, the monthly rainfall range from less than 10 mm in the dry season from May to August and 125 mm in January.
