The Columbus Crew Stadium is a football stadium in Columbus, Ohio (USA). It is the first specifically for the sport of football stadium designed and built in the USA. The stadium was opened in 1999 and is used primarily by the Major League Soccer ( MLS) team Columbus Crew.

The stadium

The stadium was built in just nine months and cost about 28.5 million U.S. dollars. Was built the stadium on the grounds of the Ohio Exposition Center and State Fairgrounds. It holds a total of 20,145 spectators. The stadium was opened on 15 May 1999, a match between Columbus Crew and New England Revolution.

Ownership and financing

The stadium was financed exclusively by private funds. The Hunt Sports Group is the owner and sole financier of the arena.

In Columbus Crew Stadium, many games of the U.S. national soccer team of men and women have been discharged.

2001 MLS Cup was played in Columbus. The San Jose Earthquakes defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1 after extra time. In the years 2000 and 2005, the MLS All -Star Game was played in Columbus. The stadium was also the venue for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2003.

Last Cup playoffs NCAA College Cup, the High School Championships from Ohio in football and American football and Major League Lacrosse have been performed.
