Major League Lacrosse

The Major League Lacrosse is the professional league of the sport field lacrosse in the United States. The league consists of eight teams, one of which ( the Hamilton Nationals ) is based in Canada.

History

The MLL started with their game operation in June 2001. Was founded by Jake Steinfeld, Dave Morrow and Tim Robertson 1999.

The season runs from May to August. It is played not by the usual rule; the additional rules are:

  • Two-point gate: A gate, which was shot behind the two-point goal line (16 yards from each goal ) counts twice
  • 60-second shot: If the team that has the ball, was not making a goal after 60 seconds, the ball switches teams
  • It may be only 3 longsticks per team are on the field (4 from 2009).

The League is transmitted on the American sports channel ESPN 2. The contract was signed on 14 March 2007, which provides that each MLL season will initially be transferred to 2016.
