Coming Up (song)

Coming Up is a song by Paul McCartney in 1979, which was written and produced by him. It was first published on April 11, 1980 as a single. Previously, McCartney had already played at a concert with his band Wings. On 16 May 1980, was also released on the album McCartney II.

History

The studio version of Coming Up Paul McCartney took in his home studio in Peasmarsh ( Sussex ) and High Park Farm (Scotland ) during the summer of 1979. McCartney played all the instruments and was responsible for the production. He thus returned to a way of working that he had practiced during the recording of his first solo album, McCartney.

On December 17, 1979 Paul McCartney and the wings took a live version of the piece on at a concert in Glasgow. This live version was included in addition to the piece Lunchbox / Odd Sox, which had been taken during the recording of the album Venus and Mars, on the B - side of the single Coming Up.

The live version of the play is on the U.S. versions of the compilation albums All the Best! (1987) and Wingspan: Hits and History ( 2001). A live version of the song, which contains an additional verse, appeared on the album Concerts for the People of Kampuchea (1981). The piece belonged during several tours of the repertoire of Paul McCartney and More Live versions appeared on the albums Tripping the Live Fantastic (1990) and Back in the U.S. ( 2002 ) and Back in the World ( 2003).

Music Video

For the song of a complex music video was produced.
