Conargo Shire

- 35.316666666667145.15Koordinaten: 35 ° 19 ' S, 145 ° 9' O Conargo Shire is a Local Government Area ( LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales. The area is 8751 km ² and has a little over 1,700, the third smallest population of all LGAs of the state.

Conargo is located in the south of the state in the region around the border river Murray River about 500 km west of the Australian capital Canberra and 330 km north of Melbourne. The area includes 45 districts and towns, including Blighty, Booroorban, Conargo, Mayrung, Pretty Pine, Wanganella and part of Deniliquin. Conargo is the only LGA in which the Council is not located in the main town, but in the nearest large town, in Deniliquin on the southern edge of the LGA. The village Conargo, which lies in the eastern part of the administrative area has only about 190 inhabitants.

Management

The Conargo Shire Council has eight members who are elected by the residents of the four Wards ( two each from Conargo, Blighty, Mayrung and Windouran Ward). These four districts are set independently of the villages. From the circle of Councillor also the Mayor ( Mayor ) of the Council recruited.
