Condé-Northen

Condé -Northen ( German Contchen, 1941-44 condensate ) is a commune with 627 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

Condé -Northen located on the road from Saarlouis to Metz ( D 954), about five kilometers southwest of Boulay -Moselle and around 30 kilometers from the border of the Saarland. In Condé -Northen unite the two source rivers of the Nied, the German Nied ( Nied allemande ) and the French Nied ( Nied française ).

History

The district Condé was first mentioned in 787 as Cundici, 1478 as conches. The younger the district Northen was first mentioned in 1618 as Nortten. Until 1766 both places were part of the Duchy of Lorraine, and thus to the medieval German Empire and then went to France. 1804, the two towns were merged in the course of administrative reform under new community Condé -Northen. 1810 the neighboring Pontigny was incorporated (first mentioned in 1339 as Bruque ). 1871-1918 belonged Condé -Northen under the name Contchen the German Reich. From 1940 to 1944 it was under the name condensate again under German administration, on 18 November 1940, sold to Inner France in the wake of ethnic cleansing action 184 of 282 people of German police units. 1979, the neighboring Lourtemange was incorporated (first mentioned as Leutermingas 825 ).
