Confracourt

Confracourt is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Confracourt situated at an altitude of 220 m above sea level, 5 km south of Combeaufontaine and about 22 km west of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the west of the département, in the rolling countryside of north west of Saônetals, in the Talniederung of Ravin on the western edge of the Bois de Confracourt.

The area of ​​19.69 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the region of the plateau north of the Saônetals. From north to south the area is crossed by the Alluvialniederung of Ravin, which provides for drainage Saône. The flood plain is on average 220 ​​m and has a maximum width of 500 m. The valley is flanked on both sides by a plateau, which reaches an average height of 250 m. This plateau consists of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly sediments of the upper Jurassic period. The plateau is divided by various depressions that open up to the valley of Ravin. In the Talniederung and on the plateau dominates agricultural use.

Larger forest land there, especially in the area of ​​the town limits. In the southwest of the area in the Bois de Vauconcourt enough in the west to the Bois de la Bellarde and north into the Bois du Louvenois ( to 270 m). East of Ravintals the large forest area of ​​the Bois de Confracourt expands ( in the Bois de la Régie 322 m), in which there is the valley of the Ruisseau de Charbonniers. In the far east has Confracourt share in the hills of Bois du Prince de Bauffremont. Here the highest elevation of Confracourt is achieved with 337 m.

Neighboring communities of Confracourt are Combeaufontaine and La Neuvelle -lès- Scey in the north, Scey -sur -Saône -et -Saint -Albin and Rupt -sur -Saône in the east, Vy -lès- Rupt in the south and Vauconcourt - Nervezain and Cornot in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Confracourt belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Scey, while the ecclesiastical jurisdiction was exercised by Cherlieu monastery since 1198. Also, the Monastery of La Charité owned numerous goods on the territory of Confracourt. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Confracourt is a member of the 10 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Belles Fontaines.

Attractions

The Saint-Georges Church was rebuilt in the 19th century in the Gothic Revival style and houses a rich sculpted pulpit from the 17th century. The chapel, also dates from the 19th century. Two Calvaires are dated to the 17th century. Near the church is a manor house dating from the 15th century. In the village there are numerous houses from the 19th century showing the characteristic style of the Haute -Saône. Also worth seeing is the built in 1834, covered round fountain modeled in one of the antique style on the village square. He served as a prototype for numerous other wells in the region.

Population

With 219 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Confracourt one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 607 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1990s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Confracourt was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. The water power of the Ravin was formerly used for the operation of mills.
