Connie Palmen

Connie Palmen ( born November 25, 1955 as Aldegonda Petronella Maria Huberta palm trees in Sint Odiliënberg, Limburg) is a Dutch writer.

Life

Connie Palmen studied philosophy and Dutch literature and wrote her thesis 1986 on the contemporary author Cees Nooteboom. She debuted in 1991 with the novel De bets whose success earned her immediate recognition in the Netherlands and was also spread internationally, including in German ( Laws, 1993) and English ( The Laws, 1993). Her next book, De Vriendschap (1995, German: The Friendship, 1996), was awarded the Dutch AKO Literatuurprijs.

Palms from 1991 to dating until his sudden death in 1995 with the Dutch journalist, writer and talk show host Isha Meijer. About this relationship, she wrote the book I.M. (1998, German: IM Isha Meijer - In margine, In Memoriam, 1999). In 1999 she wrote with De erfenis ( German: Inheritance, 2001) the Boekenweekgeschenk, a relocated in large numbers Gratismitgabe the Dutch Book Week.

Palm lives in Amsterdam and led a relationship with the journalists and D66 politician Hans van Mierlo, whom she married four months before his death on 11 March 2010 since 1999.
