Conor Oberst
Conor Mullen Oberst (* February 15, 1980 in Omaha, Nebraska ) is an American musician.
Life and work
Conor Oberst began with 13 years of making music. He took his first song according to his own statement includes a children's cassette recorder and an acoustic guitar. In the same year he founded with his brother Justin together the label Lumberjack Records, now known as Saddle Creek.
1995 to 1997 he played as a guitarist and vocalist for Commander Venus. In 1996, colonel in the Magnetas and this year was also a member of Park Ave, where he sat on the drums. At 17, he was already full-time musician.
In 1997 he published the first time a split single ( with Squadcar 96 ) under the name Bright Eyes. He subsequently published several albums, EPs and singles under this name - initially as a one- man project but soon also with full orchestra or guest musicians such as country singer Emmylou Harris. In addition, Mike Mogis and Nate Walcott were at fixed band members.
2001 to 2002 was Colonel also lead singer of the now defunct band Desaparecidos, who played emolastigen indie rock.
With the album I'm Wide Awake, It 's Morning Bright Eyes in 2005 made it to number 10 of the U.S. album charts. In addition, the singles Lua and Take It Easy ( Love Nothing) reached the same rank one and two on the Hot 100 Singles Sales in the United States.
On 1 August 2008 Conor Oberst published a self-titled solo album. The recordings took place from the Mexican Tepoztlán within a month. As a companion he was supported by the band created specifically Mystic Valley who also composed among others of musicians who had already participated in Bright Eyes releases. While the album was only his name, which was published in 2009 follow-up album Outer South by Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley is titled band. It also includes songs of the other band members.
Colonel is also one of four members of the " folk supergroup " Monsters of Folk. The other members are Jim James of My Morning Jacket, M. Ward and Mike Mogis, who was also a permanent member of Bright Eyes. The quartet released their debut album on September 22, 2009. Early 2011 break appeared with The People 's Key after nearly four years, another Bright Eyes album.
