Corina Morariu

Corina Morariu ( born January 26, 1978 in Detroit, Michigan) is a former American tennis player of Romanian descent.

Life and career

Corina Morariu was primarily known as a double - specialist. On the side of Lindsay Davenport won the 1999 Wimbledon Championships, reaching the final of the 2005 Australian Open. With the South Africans Ellis Ferreira she won the 2001 Australian Open in mixed doubles. Morariu won on the WTA tour a single and 13 doubles titles. She was on 3 April 2000 No. 1 doubles world ranking.

At the 2001 American leukemia was diagnistiziert. After she underwent chemotherapy and had recovered, she returned once on the tour.

After losing in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Corina Morariu was on 19 September 2007 her resignation.
