County of Osona

The county Osona, in Catalan Comtat d' Osona ( in the early Middle Ages Ausona ), is one of the historical Catalan counties, which included the appropriate diocese Osona; their borders roughly correspond with those of the present-day comarca of Osona. The capital of the county was Vic.

The title was won in 1383 back to the Cabrera family, was sold in 1574 by the Marquis of Aitona 1772 and came by marriage to the Duke of Medinaceli.

In addition to the count, there were also viscounts of Osona, later its title in Viscounts of Cabrera changed.
