Cristiana Muscardini

Cristiana Muscardini ( born November 6, 1948 in Canobbio ) is an Italian politician ( PdL ) and Member of the European Parliament.

Life and Politics

After studying philosophy Muscardini worked as a journalist and publicist. In 1971 she took over first line functions in the Fronte universitario di azione nazionale ( FUAN ), the high school organization of neo-fascist party Movimento Sociale Italiano ( MSI), the year after that in the party itself in 1980 she was elected to the City Council of Milan, which they to 1990 belonged; In 1991 she was a member of the City Council of Varese. From 1983 to 1987 she was a member of the Camera dei deputati, the lower house of the Italian parliament.

In the European elections in 1989 Muscardini was elected to the European Parliament, to which it belongs since then. With the reorganization of the MSI under Gianfranco Fini she served on from 1995, the National Alliance (AN). Here she was also a member of the national executive and is responsible for the coordination of European policy. After the European election in 1999, she was deputy chairman of the Union for a Europe of Nations (UEN), in which the AT was a member; since 2001, she was also Secretary General of the European party Alliance for Europe of the Nations ( AEN ), which belonged to the member parties of the UEN. From 2002 to 2003 she served on the European Convention, which drafted the EU Constitutional Treaty. After the 2004 European elections, she took over the UEN Group Presidency, together with Brian Crowley and was also deputy chairman of the Committee on International Trade. 2005/ 06 she was Regional Coordinator of AN in Lombardy.

2009 went to the AN in the newly formed party Popolo della Libertà ( PdL ), who joined also Muscardini. Therefore, since the European elections in 2009 it is a member in the European Parliament Group of the European People's Party, in the PdL is a member. She is also Deputy Chair of the Committee on International Trade. Within the PdL Muscardini is close to the flow under Gianfranco Fini, who has distanced himself from the mainstream of the party of Silvio Berlusconi. Unlike the Fini -affiliated deputies in the Italian parliament, who founded his own group Futuro e Libertà per l' Italia, (next Muscardini still Crescenzio Rivellini, Potito Salatto and Salvatore Tatarella ), however, the four Fini -related MEPs intend to continue in EPP Group remain to want.

Awards
