Cuttura is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

History

In the 5th century the priory of Notre-Dame was founded on the present-day municipality, which was destroyed in the 8th century. Meanwhile, the settlement Cuttura had developed in this priory. The rebuilt in the 10th century priory received the name Notre- Dame-de- Cuttura. Since the Middle Ages the village and priory belonged to the dominion of the Abbey of Saint -Claude. Together with the Franche -Comté Cuttura came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Population
