Daniel Fontana

Daniel Monzoro Fontana ( born December 31, 1975 in General Roca, Argentina ) is an Italian triathlete.

Career

He was born in the Patagonia region of Argentina and launched in 1994 at his first triathlon. 1997, 1999 and 2001, he was Argentine champion. In 2004 he competed in the Olympic Games. Daniel Fontana has the Argentine and Italian citizenship. He started up in 2005 for Argentina and moved to Italy in 2006. Since then he also starts for Italy. In 2008 he started in Beijing for the second time in the Olympics and took there the 33rd rank.

Fontana joined as a result then of the triathlon short distance to the longer distances and in 2009 Ironman 70.3 World Championship runner- (1,9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21 km running). In April 2010, he was in South Africa third in his first start at the Ironman distance (3.86 km swim, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running).

He now lives in Settimo Milanese, is trained by Simon Diamantini and starts for the team Dimensione Dello Sport (DDS).
