Danmarks Ishockey Union

Danmarks Ishockey Union ( DIU short; German Danish Hockey Association ) is the national hockey association based in Denmark with Brøndby. He is the umbrella organization of 16 associations, which on 1 January 2011 4,400 members were counted. Current president is Henrik Bach Nielsen.

History

Until its inception on 27 November 1949, the sport of ice hockey in a division of the Danish Skating Federation ( Dansk Skøjte Union) was organized. The new association was immediately incorporated into the Danish Sports Federation and the International Ice Hockey Federation ( IIHF ). He belongs to the IIHF full members.

In 2010, the two regional associations that Jysk Ishockey Union ( Jutland ) of 1959 and the Sealand Ishockey Union ( Zealand ) from 1962, dissolved and incorporated their tasks in the Danish Ice Hockey Association.

Tasks

The association takes care mainly to the implementation of the Games of the Danish national ice hockey team and the women's team and the junior teams. In addition, the association organizes the sport of club teams, especially in the professional AL -Bank Ligaen.
