Dave Pichette

David "Dave" Pichette ( born February 4, 1960 in Grand Falls, Newfoundland ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who in his playing days from 1978 to 1990 among others for the Quebec Nordiques, St. Louis Blues, New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers played in the National Hockey League.

Career

Dave Pichette began his career as a hockey player with the Quebec Remparts, where he was active in the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL 1978-1980. During this period he received on 31 October 1979 as a free agent contract with the Quebec Nordiques, for which he played in the National Hockey League from 1980 to 1984. During this period, the defender came in parallel also for the farm teams of the Nordiques, the Hershey Bears and Fredericton Express in the American Hockey League action. On 10 February 1984 he was given in exchange for Andre Dore to the St. Louis Blues. By the end of the 1983/84 season in 32 games he scored a goal for the Blues, and prepared a further 13 matches ago.

On October 9, 1984 Pichette was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the NHL Waiver Draft. After the first year in the franchise of the Devils still had a place in the NHL squad, he ran in the 1985/86 season already abwechselend for New Jersey in the NHL and its farm team, the Maine Mariners in the AHL on. In the 1986/87 season the Canadians finally stood exclusively for the Mariners in the AHL on the ice. In the following season, he completed only six games for the New York Rangers in the NHL, but he could not prevail at Rangers and spent most of his time in the AHL farm team for the New Haven Nighthawks. After he started the 1988/89 season at the Krefeld EV in the Bundesliga, he played until his retirement in late 1990 at the age of 30 years for the Cape Breton Oilers and Halifax Citadel in the American Hockey League.

On the occasion of the Heroes of Hockey Game, which took place as part of the NHL All- Star Games, in 2001 he packed once the skates.
