David Chodounsky

David Chodounsky ( born June 25, 1984 in St. Paul, Minnesota) is an American alpine skier. He starts mainly in the technical disciplines slalom and giant slalom.

Biography

Chodounsky was born in St. Paul and grew up in the U.S. state of Minnesota, where he learned to ski. At the age of 7 years, he joined the Buck Hill Ski Racing Team, where he was trained, among others, a native of Austria Erich Sailer. To further promote the talent of the boy, his parents relocated in 1995 with him in the winter Crested Butte in Colorado. By 2008, he attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and achieved with the Big Green College ski team some success.

In November 1999 Chodounsky denied his first FIS race, a year later, first sporadic operations in Nor- Am Cup. After initial victories in FIS races and multiple placements in the top 20 in Nor- Am Cup, he went in January 2007 for the first time in a Nor -Am Cup race at the fastest ten. After he had achieved with consistent performances in the 2007/2008 season in tenth place in the slalom standings, he achieved the first podium and eighth place in the Slalom Ranking in winter 2008 /2009. In March 2009 Chodounsky won the U.S. championship in slalom, a year later he was in this discipline, and in combination runner-up. In the 2009/2010 season, he raced in the Nor- Am Cup not only in slalom and giant slalom, but first took part in Super G and Super - combinations. At the beginning of the season 2010/2011 he celebrated his first victory in the slalom at Loveland.

In the World Cup Chodounsky took first in the 2009/2010 season at four slaloms in part, but in none of these races came up in the second round of the best 30 He succeeded for the first time in his seventh World Cup races on January 6, 2011, being the slalom in Zagreb. There, he won his first World Cup points in 20th. After two more positions to rank 20, he came at the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch -Partenkirchen for use, but where he was eliminated in the second slalom passage after he was located in the first round at No. 34. The following winter 2011/2012 Chodounsky participated only in a few races. He finished after persistent knee problems in December, the season and underwent an operation in January to the patellar tendon. Due to a broken collarbone he had to pause again in the summer of 2012, which he missed a training camp in New Zealand. On January 29, 2013 Chodounsky reached fifth place in the City Event Moscow his best ever World Cup result.
