David M. Kreps

Marc David Kreps ( born October 18, 1950 in New York City ) is an American economist.

Life and work

Kreps earned his Artium Baccalaureus in 1972 in mathematics from Dartmouth College in 1975 and his MA and his Ph.D. in Operations Research at the Stanford School of Engineering at Stanford University. Since 1975 he has been at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University worked: 1975 to 1978 he was assistant professor, associate professor from 1978 to 1980 and is since 1980 Professor of Economics. He was Guest professor at Yale University ( 1982), Harvard University ( 1983-1984), The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1985 ), University of Paris -Dauphine (1986 ), Tel Aviv University (1989-1990 ), University of Oxford (1990) and at the Bocconi University (1992).

Kreps works primarily in the areas of decision making, game theory and the theory of price. In particular, it deals with dynamic decision making with financial markets, with limited rationality and human resources.

Kreps has three children and his hobbies are cooking and training in youth sports.
