Delbert Martin Shofner ( born December 11, 1934 in Center, Texas, USA) is an American former American football player. He played as a wide receiver in the National Football League ( NFL) with the Los Angeles Rams and the New York Giants.

Playing career

Shofner visited his birthplace in high school and then studied at Baylor University, for their college football team, the Baylor Bears, he also played American football. At college, he was mostly based on the position of a halfback. In 1957, the Bears into the Sugar Bowl and were able to beat the University of Tennessee with 13:7 there. In this game, he prepared with a run over 54 yards a touchdown against his team. Shofner was appointed on the basis of its services to the Most Valuable Player of the game.

In 1957, the tall Shofner in the NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams was pulled in the first round in 11th place. His career began at first hesitant. In the first game year, he received very little use time and came only as a punter for use. Only in the second year, he was taken by Head Coach Sid Gillman as a wide receiver for use and could eight touchdowns and 1097 yards space gain achieved, which represented the Ligabestleistung this year. 1961 Shofner joined to the New York Giants. Honors

Shofner is a member of the NFL 1960s All- Decade Team. He was elected five times All Pro and played in the Pro Bowl five times, the end of season game of the best players of the season.
