Deportes Iquique

The club Deportes Iquique is a Chilean football club from Iquique. The club was founded in 1978 and plays its home games at the Estadio Tierra de Campeones from, which seats 12,000 spectators. Deportes Iquique, which has never been Chilean football champion, currently plays in La Liga, the top division in Chile.

History

The club Deportes Iquique was founded on May 21, 1978 in Iquique, a port city in northern Chile. Here, the club was formed by the merger of two regional associations called Iquique and Estrella de Chile. Just two years after the founding Deportes Iquique succeeded the first great success.
