Derek Wadsworth

Derek Wadsworth ( born February 5, 1939 in Cleckheaton, Yorkshire; † 3 December 2008, Oxfordshire ) was a British jazz trombonist, arranger and composer of film music.

Life and work

Wadsworth played trombone as a teenager in brass bands; In 1960 he moved to London and played in the jazz band by Teddy Foster, then at Ronnie Aldrich and the Squadronaires. In 1963 he worked for Dusty Springfield as musical director; he was responsible for their shots as I Only Want to Be With You, which were heavily influenced by the Tamla - Motown sound.
