Back to Earth is the eleventh and final studio album by singer -songwriter Cat Stevens.

History

The 13th album ( including live and compilation albums ) by Cat Stevens appeared in December 1978. The album was aware of Cat Stevens recorded as his last. In December 1977, he converted to Islam and called himself Yusuf Islam; still he was about to leave the music business and his stardom. For contractual reasons, but he had to take out yet another album, as Yusuf Islam Back to Earth published under his old stage name Cat Stevens.

The sound from the previous album Izitso should not be continued, so his producer Paul Samwell reactivated Islam -Smith and guitarist Alun Davies, with whom he also composed two tracks, and drummer Gerry Conway. The musical result is similar to earlier recordings by Cat Stevens. As with Izitso also Back to Earth again includes two instrumentals, The Artist and Nascimento. The title Last Love Song called Yusuf Islam in hindsight ( According to the companion book to On the Road to Find Out ( Box Set ) ) as its epilogue.

Back to Earth was not a commercial success, the album placed only in Germany and the USA in the Top 40, which was also recalled that Yusuf Islam made ​​no promotional work for this album. As singles were released Bad Brakes, New York Times, Last Love Song and Randy each in different countries.

The album was re-released in 2001 in a remastered by Ted Jensen Version.
