Catch Bull at Four is the sixth studio album by singer -songwriter Cat Stevens and was published in 1972.

History

The sixth album by Cat Stevens (now Yusuf ) was released in September 1972. The album continued the commercial success of the last two LPs, so it took first place in the American charts, it held three weeks, the album recorded a 48-week the album charts. In the UK, the album reached number two and was able to hold on for 20 weeks in the Top 10 of the album charts., Landed in Germany album at number 17 in the UK was Can not Keep It In and coupled in the United States sitting as a single. The Single Sitting peaked in the U.S. charts, number 16

Cat Stevens sat for the first time a synthesizer; overall sound of the album was less audible than the two previous albums ( Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat ) produced. The title Catch Bull at Four refers to the "Ten stages of enlightenment " of Zen Buddhism, the fourth stage "Catch the Bull" is. Stevens saw the album as his fourth, as he left his first two did not count on Deram Records.

Robert Christgau wrote in his review for the album that he was initially impressed by the imagery of the lyrics, but on closer inspection, weaknesses would show in the rhymes and linguistic images of the very poetry of the Elizabethan age would be imitated.
