Buddha and the Chocolate Box is the eighth studio album by singer -songwriter Cat Stevens (now Yusuf ). It was released in March 1974.
History
Cat Stevens had during a flight to a concert a Buddha figure and a box of chocolate in his hands and thought that if he was dying, he was caught between something spiritual and something material; so the album title was born.
Musically, the tracks are a departure from the soulful previous album Foreigner towards Catch Bull at Four, and still earlier works. So the partnership with Alun Davies and his producer Paul Samwell -Smith was renewed. Buddha and the Chocolate Box reached # 2 in the U.S., the UK and # 3 in Germany No. 34 of the U.S. charts. As singles Oh Very Young and Ready were released.
The album was re-released in 2000 in a remastered by Ted Jensen Version.
