Tea for the Tillerman is the fourth studio album by the folk-rock singer and songwriter Cat Stevens. It was released on 23 November 1970 and reached number 20 of the UK, number 8 in the U.S. and number 43 in the German charts.

Songs and re-releases

The most known songs of the album are Wild World, Sad Lisa and Father and Son, which have been covered by artists such as Boyzone, Ronan Keating and Mr. Big. Four other songs on the album were used as the soundtrack for the film Harold and Maude.

The album was re-released in 2000 in a remastered by Ted Jensen Version. Another re-release as a double CD (Deluxe Edition) was performed with written comments on the album of Yusuf, Alun Davies and Paul Samwell -Smith, 2008. The CD was once again remastered and bonus CD contains demo and live versions.

Cover

The cover was drawn by Cat Stevens. The cup, which is to see to it can be found again on the cover of his album An Other Cup, which he published in 2006 under the name " Yusuf ".

DVD: A Classic Concert Tea for the Tillerman Live

The live recordings were made on 8 June 1971 in the KCET Studios in Los Angeles ( USA). The cast was Cat Stevens (guitar and keyboards), Alun Davies ( guitar) and Larry Steele (bass and congas ). In August 2008, the studio concert was released on the label Wienerworld.

Awards

Tea for the Tillerman in 2003 was ranked 206 of the 500 best albums of all time and 2006 in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You listed by the music magazine Rolling Stone, The.

The album was certified gold in 1971 and 2001 with triple platinum.
