On his published in the September 1971 album Teaser and the Firecat Stevens pieces were still melodic, what his music could reach an even wider audience. The album peaked in the U.S. in second place in the album charts in the UK and # 3 in Germany No. 23 The biggest hit of the album was the catchy Morning Has Broken. In Germany, the album as well as the successful single of Morning Has Broken was not in the top ten of the charts.

On the cover of the album a boy can be seen with a blue hat and a fire- red cat. The drawings are by Cat Stevens. In 1972 he published a children's book with histories of these two as the main characters. The book has not been reprinted since the mid- 1970s.

The album was re-released in 2000 in a remastered by Ted Jensen Version.
