Diocletianic Persecution

The Diocletian persecution of Christians was the last and worst of the persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire. 303 enacted the Roman Emperor Diocletian, Maximian, Galerius and Constantius a series of edicts with which they revoked the rights of Christians and required them to sacrifice to the Roman gods. Later edicts targeted the clergy and demanded that all residents would have to sacrifice to the gods. The persecution was are different, the weakest in Gaul and in Britain, where only the first edict was applied, and most of the eastern provinces. The edicts were repealed by various emperors at different times, but usually the Edict of Milan ( 313) is considered the end of the persecutions.
