The Disney Fantasy ( Disney Fantasy dt ) is a post-Panamax cruise ship in the American shipping company Disney Cruise Line. It is named after the Disney Dream, the second ship that left the shipping company at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg build (Emsland).
Construction and commissioning
On 24 April 2007, the Disney Cruise Line ordered the two post- Panamax cruise ships Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy at the Meyer Werft in Papenburg. On 11 February 2011 the keel laying took place. In December 2011, Unknown, during the construction phase can, repeatedly turned water pipes on the ship and run. This 40 cabins were damaged; the material damage amounted to about one million euros.
Only eleven months after the keel was laid, on January 8, 2012 undocking took place from the largest covered dry dock in the world. The Emsüberführung began on the evening of 20 January 2012 and ended the following day with the arrival in Eemshaven, Netherlands. On February 9, 2012, the ship in Bremerhaven was handed over to the shipping company Disney Cruise Line. After the completion of the remaining work, the Disney Fantasy left Bremerhaven on 16 February 2012 and reached the port of New York on 28 February 2012. Baptism by American singer Mariah Carey on 1 March 2012. March 31, 2012 broke the ship on its maiden voyage.
Special
The appearance of the ship based on passenger liners of the 1930s and has both design elements of Art Deco as well as elements from the world of Disney on. The hull is dark blue, white superstructure with two red chimneys. The stern of the vessel is decorated with the Disney characters Dumbo and Timothy the mouse.
The interior cabins on the Disney Fantasy all have a "virtual porthole " on which a high-resolution real-time view is shown of the sea. In addition, Disney characters from the animated film Finding Nemo or Mickey Mouse are recorded.
One of the attractions on board is the water slide "Aqua Duck", which was also already installed on the sister ship Disney Dream, the first water slide on a cruise ship. It is 233 meters long and runs over four decks.
