Djiratawa (also: Djirataoua ) is a rural municipality in the Department Madarounfa in Niger.

Geography

Djiratawa lies in the large landscape Sudan and is an eastern suburb of the capital region of Maradi. The other neighboring communities Djiratawas are SAE Saboua in the north, Tchadoua in the East, Dan - Issa and Madarounfa in the south and Safo in the southwest. The municipality is divided into 55 administrative villages, 27 hamlets, 20 stock. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Djiratawa (also: Djirataoua ).

History

The French colonial administration set up in 1944 in a Canton Djiratawa one. From the Canton Djiratawa went in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform, the rural community Djiratawa forth.

Population

At the 2001 census Djiratawa had 54 359 inhabitants. For the year 2010 73.455 inhabitants were calculated. The administrative village in the municipality of Houdel Djiratawa is a traditional center of Azna.
