Dolní Dvořiště

Dolni Dvořiště ( German Unterhaid ) is a municipality with 1212 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers south-west of Kaplice and belongs to Okres Český Krumlov. The land area is 8978 hectares.

Geography

The place is located in 618 m above sea level. M. on the left bank of the Maltsch between the Bohemian Forest and the Novohradské mountains on the Austrian border. In the West Dolni Dvořiště is bypassed by the highway R 3 / e 55, which leads to the border crossing Wullowitz and continue on the Mühlviertler road (B 310). By districts Trojany and Rybnik leads the Summerauer train, in the latter of this aside, the branch line to Lipno nad Vltavou.

Neighboring towns are Suchdol in the north, Rychnov nad Malší and Svatý Kámen nad Malší in the east, Stieger village and Wullowitz in the south and Rybnik and Trojany in the West.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1279 as Merica in a list of the monastery Hohenfurth subordinate churches. Since the mid-14th century, he was likely to rule Pořešín and arrived before 1370 to the Rosenbergs. 1380 Dworzischcze was raised to the market town, and received the right to drive a coat of arms. After the extinction of the Rosenbergs came Unterhaidt 1612 at the Swan Berger and 1621 the Buquoys.

After the founding of Czechoslovakia, the Council requested to Unterhaid on 4 November 1918 at annexation to Austria. 1920 lived 760 inhabitants in the spots, which were 709 German, 43 Czechs and 8 Jews. Between 1946 and 1947 the Germans were expelled and from 1955 to 1989 was the site of the Iron Curtain and most villages in the area were cleared and removed.
