Dolný Lopašov

Lopašov Dolny ( until 1927 slovak " Lopašov "; Hungarian Alsólopassó - to 1907 Lopasso ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 955 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011), the Region belongs to Okres Piešťany, part of Trnavský.

Geography

The municipality is located on the southeastern edge of the Little Carpathians in the transition from the hill country Trnavská pahorkatina, on both sides of the creek Lopašovský creek in a valley that descends further into a corridor terrace of Dudváh. The center is located at an altitude of 206 m nm and is 20 kilometers from Piešťany and 25 miles from Trnava.

History

Archaeological studies show that an intensive settlement of the municipality dates back to the Neolithic period. The emergence of the modern village dates back to the late 11th or early 12th century.

The town was first mentioned in 1394 as Lopasow writing and belonged to the manor of Castle Guttenstein. 1437 Lopašov was exempt from the payment of tolls and the Thirty -ester, but did not exercise this privilege because of the role of the neighboring village Chtelnica not. 1549 are listed in the village as well as three 33 Porta Porta devastated. During the Turkish wars in the 16th and 17th centuries, the village in the years 1599 and 1663 was burned down by the Ottomans. Main source of income was and is agriculture, in the past, viticulture was significant. 1828 are listed 131 houses and 960 inhabitants.
