Don Polye

Don Polye PomB ( born 1 February 1967) is a politician of New Guinea papua.

Education and work

Polye attended primary and secondary school in Mount Hagen and the high school Wewak. From 1987 to 1990 he studied civil engineering at the University of Technology in Lae (: Bachelor's degree ) from 2004 to 2007 Management at Southern Cross University in Australia Lismore ( Degree: Master of Business Administration).

From 1991 to 1994, and again in 1997 Polye worked as an engineer for the Ministry of Public Works operates. From 1994 to 1996 he worked for the private civil engineering company Starwest Constructions in the construction of copper ore pipeline Tabubil - Kiunga. 1998-2001 he worked as a private consultant.

Party

Don Polye was a member of the National Alliance Party and at times its vice chairman. In 2012 he founded the Triumph Heritage Empowerment Party, which he is chairman since then.

Member of Parliament

Since 2002 Polye is a member of the Parliament of Papua New Guinea for the constituency Kandep in Enga province.

In June 2007, shots were fired, as Polye occurred at a political event in his constituency. A rival candidate for his seat was later charged with attempted murder.

Polye was on 14 August 2009 again a member of Parliament, but had to give up the seat, as the National Court determined that his victory in the elections of 2007 was invalid. The judge's decision contained the grounds that it was difficult to believe that in some polling stations, 100 % of the voters had voted for polyethylene. The by-election for the seat was held on 9 November 2009, and polyethylene ran again. He could regain his seat.

Public offices

Under Prime Minister Michael Somare Polye was from 2002 to 2010 Minister of Transport. From 2005 to 2006, he was also Minister of Education and Research. From 2006 to 2007 he was deputy prime minister. In July 2010 he replaced Puka Temu as Deputy Prime Minister, after he had tried unsuccessfully to overthrow Somare by a motion of censure. Polye himself lost his post as deputy prime minister on December 7, 2010 by an improvised reshuffle, which was carried out according to ABC News Australia under " exceptional circumstances ". From December 2010 to June 2011 he was Secretary of State under Michael Somare.

Don Polye is a Seventh- day Adventist and married.
