DRG Class 71.0

The DR series 71.0 were four-coupled tank locomotives, which were designed as a railcar replacement at Deutsche Reichsbahn. Originally, the unit steam locomotives for the transport of fast passenger trains were provided.

Two steam locomotives were delivered in 1934 by the company Schwartzkopff and two each in 1936 by the company Borsig and Krupp. The two-cylinder steam engines were equipped with an automatic feed grate ( stoker ) for the one-man operation. During the service, the pressure of the boiler for safety of 20 was reduced to 16 bar bar. All locomotives were given a sheet metal frame. The second coupled axle was driven, the wheels rested in Bisselgestellen.

The German Federal Railroad took over after the Second World War all vehicles and showed them to the depot in Nuremberg. Later they were moved to Kaiserslautern and Landau. The machines were retired by 1956.

From the series 71.0 no specimen is obtained.
