Duchouquet Township is one of 14 townships of Auglaize County in the U.S. state of Ohio. According to the census in the year 2000 14.329 inhabitants were registered here.

Geography

Duchouquet Township is located in the northern center of the Auglaize counties in northwest Ohio and bordered clockwise to the townships: Shawnee Township, Allen County, Perry Township (Allen County), Union Township, Clay Township, Pusheta Township, Washington Township and Logan Township.

History

Duchouquet Township was formed on March 4, 1833. It was named after Francis Duchoquet, a French trapper who lived with the Shawnee resident. The Shawnee arrived in 1780 in the area after the Miami had been expelled.

Management

The township is administered by a Board of Trustees consisting of three elected members. Two persons are elected in the year after the presidential election and one each in the previous year. The term of office lasts four years, beginning on 1 January. There is also a Township Clerk (Secretary), who is also elected in the year before the presidential election to a four -year term. Whose term of office begins on April 1.
