Dušan Salfický

Dušan Salfický ( born March 28, 1972 in Chrudim, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech professional ice hockey goaltender. Since 2008 he plays for the HC Slovan Ustecti Lvi in the first Czech league.

Career

Dušan Salfický began his professional career in 1989 at the Poldi Kladno SONP, as it was used in a game of League 1 in the men's team of the club. From 1990 he played for HC Pardubice. During the following six seasons with the Czechs, he gave brief guest appearances in the Tri -City Americans of the Western Hockey League, the HC Tábor, SK Botas Skuteč and the HC Hradec Králové. In 1996, the goalkeeper in his last season in the jersey of HC Pardubice, since he moved to the season for league rivals HC Škoda Plzeň, for which he stood until 2002 goal. NHL Entry Draft 2001 Salfický was selected in the fifth round at a total of 132 out of the New York Islanders. Then he stood for four games in goal for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, but prematurely returned again to Pardubice back.

According to the 2001 / 02 season, signed him the HK CSKA Moscow of the Russian Super League, which he left in direction Severstal Cherepovets 2004. There it held the Left Catcher only one season, and in 2005 he moved to Moskovskaya Oblast Chimik, where he suffered an average of just 2.11 goals against per game and finished sixth in the final standings with the team. After changing to the HC Sparta Prague Salfický won the 2007 its first Czech Championship and played in the IIHF European Champions Cup.

After he had spent the season 2007/ 08 the Russian climber Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, signed him, the Czech second division club HC Slovan Ustecti Lvi, for which he has performed since then. At the end of the season 2008 /09 he won with the eagles from Ústí nad Labem the championship of the first league, but failed in the relegation for the extra league at the BK Mladá Boleslav.

The following season he started at Ústí before it was in October 2009 committed by the HC Plzeň as a replacement for the injured Tomáš Pöpperle.

Internationally

On the international stage Dušan Salfický played at the World Championships in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and at the Olympic Winter Games 2006 in Turin for the Czech national team. At the World Championships in 2000 and 2001, the Keeper won the gold medal each. In addition, he received at the Olympic Winter Games, the bronze medal, although he had been behind Dominik Hasek and Tomas Vokoun only third-choice goalkeeper of the Czechs and remained without any use.
