The East Derwent Highway is an urban motorway in the south of the Australian state of Tasmania. It connects on the east bank of the Derwent River to the Tasman Highway (A3 ) and the eastern parts of the city of Hobart with Bridgewater and the Midland Highway ( N1). As the Brooker Highway on the other side of the river also serves the East Derwent Highway to the rush-hour traffic.

Course

The highway begins at the intersection of Lindisfarne on the eastern ramp of the Tasman Bridge and through the suburbs Lindisfarne to the north, past the historic Risdon Cove. Shortly afterwards branches off Goodwood Road ( B35 ), which crosses at the Bowen Bridge the Derwent River to Glenorchy. Then the East Derwent Highway follows the river bank, vobei at Mount Direction by settlements Otago, Old Beach and Gage Brook. North of Bridgewater she meets the Midland Highway.
