ECHO Klassik

The ECHO Klassik is a German music award for personalities and productions from the field of classical music. The ECHO Klassik is the second oldest of three echo prices and is awarded by the German Phono Academy annually since 1994. 2013, the 20th ceremony took place. 2014 prizes will be awarded in 22 categories. In addition to the Echo Klassik there is the ECHO ECHO pop and jazz.

Description

The main objective of the ECHO Klassik is to reward not only international stars for their musical achievements, but also to promote outstanding young talents with the award. The ECHO Klassik is awarded by a jury that pronounces her judgment of artistic quality and after success with the public. The award of the ECHO Klassik thus reflects not only the opinion of critics, but also the appreciation of music sales.

The ECHO Klassik Prize winners will be chosen by a jury made ​​up of the working group of the Association of Classical music industry, independent industry experts and the ZDF music department.

Since 2001, a short time after each ECHO Klassik Awards, the Best-of- classic compilation with winners and nominees of the annual ceremony is published annually.

An ECHO Klassik magazine with backgrounds, stories, interviews and reports around the ECHO Klassik appears annually since 2009. The magazine is digitally available on the homepage of the ECHO Klassik.

Submission rules

The basis for the filing of recorded music publications of an artist from the genre classic. Whether the sound carrier is assigned to the genre classics, the classification decision in the PHONONET database. Entitled to apply for all phonogram producer whose sound recordings are constantly being sold in the German market and have the appropriate distribution rights to the sound recordings of the artists. For the award, regardless of nationality, all classical music artists qualified active at the time of filing in the musical life and the recorded music market. The filing period falls on March each year ( date of postmark ). The evaluation period falls from the beginning of the previous calendar year until the submission period of the current year. Sound recordings must include, first published during the evaluation period recordings, which must account for the total playing time of the publication of at least 50 %. In the previous year submitted products may not be resubmitted. Each entry consists of three parts: the submission form, at least two reviews and 12 CDs / DVDs. It can be done by a company as many submissions. In addition, each submission for any number of categories can be proposed.

For each product submitted a one-time fee of 50,00 € will be charged. Where a phonogram submitted for multiple categories, there are no additional costs. A jury will select the submissions for each category to the respective winners by a simple majority. The decision of the Jury of the decision is final. A legal claim for inclusion in the submission process or the prizes awarded does not exist.
