Eduard Schütt

Eduard Schütt ( born October 22, 1856 in Saint Petersburg, † July 26, 1933 in Maia, Merano, South Tyrol) also known under the pseudonyms Arnolde Clairlie and Henri Marling, was a Russian- Austrian pianist, conductor and composer.

Life

Eduard Schütt studied in St. Petersburg in Petersen and Theodor stone and from 1876-78 in Leipzig by Ernst Friedrich Richter, Salomon Jadassohn and Carl Reinecke. Bulk lived since 1879 in Vienna, where he studied with Theodor Leschetizky and was from 1881 to 1897 conductor of the Vienna Academic Wagner Society.

As a composer, he is mainly known by the paraphrases of waltzes by Johann Strauss, including the above " On the Beautiful Blue Danube ," "Tales from the Vienna Woods", and " Roses from the South ", which are also technically very demanding. Likewise, he also wrote many of his time very popular piano works.

Since 1892 he lived in Upper corn near Merano, where he had bought the Villa Mon Repos. There bulk had numerous students who studied with him. His circle of friends included, among others, Franz Liszt, Artur Rubinstein, Johannes Brahms, Richard Heuberger and Alfred Grünfeld.
