Edward Henryk Materski

Edward Henryk Materski (born 6 January 1923 in Vilnius, † March 24, 2012 in Radom ) was a Polish priest. He was Roman Catholic Bishop of Radom.

Life

Edward Materski moved to his father's death in 1932 along with his mother and two sisters to Warsaw. Materski studied from 1942 to 1947 at the Faculty of Theology in Warsaw. He took part in the Warsaw Uprising .. The Bishop of Kielce, Czeslaw Kaczmarek, ordained him a priest on May 20, 1947. He was a chaplain in Chmielnik, Kielce and Kurzelów. He was private secretary to Bishop Czeslaw Kaczmarek and contact person during the show trial and imprisonment of Czeslaw Kaczmarek.

Materski was 1966-1988 Professor of catechesis at the seminary in Kielce and at the Catholic University of Lublin. He was president of the Polish Episcopal Commission for Catholic Education.
