Concept

As was the Leitmotif, El Cielo is a concept album. In the CD booklet, a letter from a person is not at all purely instrumental song reprinted with sleep disorders. The respective song text contains excerpts from the respective letter, but follows the words not exactly.

The album is inspired by Salvador Dalí's 1944 painting published "Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee around a Pomegranate One Second Before Awakening" ( Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening ), for which the abbreviation dcbtfoabaaposba the first song title is. So does the Japanese text at the beginning of the song " The Canyon Behind Her" on German This album was inspired by a painting by the name of: A Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening. Many themes and song title of the album refer to the painting, such as a long-legged elephant ( song title " An Elephant In The Delta Waves ") with a papal insignia on the back ( published only on a demo CD song entitled "The Papal Insignia " ) or a reclining woman in a canyon ( song title " The Canyon Behind Her" ). The album was released in two versions. Once as limited digipack with a sky as cover that there are no more to buy. The second version was released with the same booklet of the limited edition in a jewel case.

Reviews

  • Intro: "Of course here is still like geproggt and tricky and 7/16-getaktet what finally one has tinkered for five years at the plate, but the result is much more accessible and entertaining than ever and - despite all ties with tradition - in terms of sound and songwriting something really new, the original. • Plattentests.de: 10 out of 10. " What have done from the Northern California Province with their second album, the four eccentrics, deserves deepest reverence and is almost impossible to put into words. (...) Dredg playing on " El cielo " not only in a league with Tool and the Deftones. They are also pursuing the same approach as A Perfect Circle on " Mer de noms " and act thanks to vocalist Gavin Hayes as the ghosts of Life Of Agony, the around Punken unasked in all minds. Sounds incomprehensible? Is it too. " Armin Linder
