The El Paso ( El Paso English International Airport ) Airport is an airport located in El Paso in the U.S. state of Texas.

History

Trigger for the construction of the airport was a visit to Charles Lindbergh in El Paso on 24 September 1927. The El Paso Aero Club began after this visit with the plans for the El Paso Municipal Airport, which was inaugurated on September 8, 1928. 1929 took Standard Airlines, an airline that went up in 1930, American Airlines, flight operations from El Paso. In the same year standard Airlines moved to an area southeast of the Municipal Airport, which was referred to as Standard Airport. 1936 took over the city of El Paso Airport and the standard referred to him as El Paso Municipal Airport, the previously used site was abandoned.

During World War II, the airport was used by the United States Army Air Force and the United States Navy, but he opened for civilian air traffic.

1950 the City Council decided to change the name of the airport in El Paso International Airport.

Operation

In 2009, 3.1 million passengers used the El Paso airport. The largest provider is the Southwest Airlines. There are scheduled flights to destinations within the United States. NASA used the El Paso airport for the training of astronauts on the Space Shuttle.
